WEATHER CONDITIONS: cloudy, overcast and clear

AIR TEMPERATURE: +0.4 degrees C

SEA TEMPERATURE: +1.4 degrees C

SEA CONDITIONS: slight sea and slight to moderate swell

ICE CONDITIONS: nil

REMARKS:

Continuous Plankton Recorder retrieved from final transect at 810. Sailed by McDonald Islands this morning -excellent cloud-free visibility from 0930 to about 1030. Sailed to 4 nm (to point where soundings end). Steam seen 'puffing' strongly from one major point and a few smaller ones!! A good morning for Kodak!! Sked with Heard Island this morning, expect to arrive at Atlas Cove at about 1300.
