My name is Betty Trummel, and back in the fall of 1998 I had the wonderful opportunity to spend 6 weeks in Antarctica as part of the Teachers Experiencing Antarctica and the Arctic Program. I loved the experience so much that I wanted my 4th grade students to be able to keep learning about Antarctica. So my class has sent a GeoBear to Antarctica every year since 1999. Berkley, the bear you will be meeting in Bears on Ice was the bear that went in October, 2000.

I've included a few of the pictures related to my own adventure here also. I hope you will enjoy this virtual look at the work I did. Students and educators may use these pictures as long as you include a copyright statement. Others should contact me before using. If you have any questions about Antarctica, please don't hesitate to contact me at [email protected] I hope you enjoy the show.
