We'll be happy here because we can watch movies and listen to CDs. Hmm. There are bungee cords on everything. Why do you think they use bungee cords?

Student Answers:

  • Michael - Riverton - To keep them from falling
  • Shaun - Parsons - So they don't fall off the shelves in storms
  • Molly - DeKalb - So people don't steal them
  • Lashanda - Kansas City - They would bounce up and down with the ship and break if they weren't held down.

Our Answer:

To keep them from falling and being flung around during times when the waves are really high. Here's a picture of the Aurora Australis in a storm in February of this year.
