Modified Transcript: Mainly what the rover will need to sense are properties of the external world; such as the temperature, whether or not there are obstacles around the robot, and exactly where the robot is located. We also need to know what the internal properties of the robot are. For instance, we need to know what its current temperature is so we can make sure that things are kept warm, but not overheated. We also need to know what the fuel levels are so that we don't constantly have to go out and manually check the fuel level. On top of these things, we also need to have some outreach sensing applied to the robot so that we can beam data back to The University of Kansas, where it can be sent to the rest of the world.
